Since 2005, YPPD has been empowering young people to lead solution for peace, equality, and sustainable development in Sierra Leone
Your partnership helps us bring clean water, education, and hope to places where it’s needed most.
We believe in the power of young people to shape fairer, safer, and more resilient communities.
From post-conflict recovery to national advocacy, YPPD turns local challenges into pathways for progress.
Together with our partners, we’ve reached thousands of youth with programs that promote peace, health, and civic engagement.
Our work builds skills, confidence, and leadership—creating lasting change that continues long after projects end.
We equip young people to participate in decision-making, drive reform, and shape the Sierra Leone they envision.
Through digital tools, social accountability platforms, and community action, we connect citizens and amplify their voices.
Born in a time of rebuilding, YPPD continues to strengthen trust, peace, and opportunity across generations.
Together, we can unlock the potential of every young person to create a peaceful, just, and equitable society.
About Us
About YPPD
The Youth Partnership for Peace and Development (YPPD) is a youth empowerment think tank established in 2005 to enhance the capacity of young people and their communities, as well as the creation of open societies that promote sustainable development. It maintains the view that young people can be agents of positive change and works for ways of enabling them to step forward for social transformation. Since its establishment in Sierra Leone, the organization has increased young people’s understanding of finding practical approaches to building wholesomely functioning societies that promote peace and mutual co-existence while deepening voices and actions that demand equity and accountability for all.The overarching goal of YPPD is to contribute to the endeavors of supporting youth development, peaceful conflict resolution, stability, sustainable development, peace and democracy in Sierra Leone.Â

What We Do
We believe young people carry the strength and imagination to shape a better Sierra Leone. Since 2005, YPPD has been a home where youth grow in confidence, learn to lead with purpose, and take action in their communities. From peacebuilding to civic participation, we nurture a generation ready to serve, inspire, and uplift others.
We work closely with families, schools, and community leaders to improve everyday life and protect the dignity of all. Our programs support health, education, WASH, climate action, and community resilience. We honour the value of togetherness and build on local wisdom so that progress is shared and lasting.
Real change happens when people are heard. We help young people and communities raise their voices on the issues that affect them and take part in shaping decisions at local and national levels. Through advocacy, public dialogue, and meaningful partnerships, we open doors for citizens to speak, be respected, and guide the future of their country.
