OUR STRATEGIC PROGRAMME AREAS
Our mandate requires that we focus on the following four strategic areas:

Youth Participation
This strategic program area works to build the political and civic consciousness of youths and their level of participation in governance issues that affect their lives. The aim is to enable young people realize their potential as citizens through active participation in, contribution to and engagement with social, economic, political and cultural development processes. In acknowledging young people as trusted partners in development, as well as people with the right to life and wellbeing, we respond to the call for our youth-focused programs to address the global agenda of poverty alleviation, climate change and HIV/AIDS.

Youth Enterprise Development
This area of work represents a promising avenue for young people to create their sustainable livelihoods, supported by appropriate programs and supportive policy environments. YPPD contributes to promoting sustainable livelihoods for youths as a strategy for poverty reduction and enhancement of living standards through youth skill and enterprise development and advocacy and lobbying with key actors for the progressive creation of the requisite policy and institutional frameworks for the realisation of this goal.

Youth Networks and Governance
Our work in this area will give young people an opportunity to promote and provide practical support for the achievement of our fundamental values. The goal of this strategic program is to enhance the capacity of young people and youth networks to influence governance processes at local and national levels through strong and active partnerships with the relevant stakeholders and through monitoring the activities of state institutions working on justice and accountability issues. In this regard, we work to promote justice for children and women who are among the most vulnerable in Sierra Leone, and to strengthen the effectiveness of institutions of accountability through monitoring and reporting on their activities.

Youth Education and Training
Our work in this area recognizes that young people including youth leaders and youth servers all bring diverse experiences and rich perspectives into the learning environment and, through informal and non-formal training opportunities; create opportunities for disadvantaged youths to lead brighter lives through a system of continuing education. The idea of an educational program is to address the educational difficulties and deficiencies of young people in terms of enabling them make the meaningful changes they need within their communities.
